04/06/26: An awkward night of pool for the Pickwick but we got the job done, but only just, to get a win at home to Bell Ya Later. Luck seemed to be against us as the first two frames of the night slipped away. Gaf restored hope but a misplaced positional shot in frame 4 meant the first set had gone to our visitors. The Gypsy then put two frames back to back, his second demonstrated a precise finish. Dray added one more, then Gaf broke and dished to level up at a set all. The final two frames of the second set saw us fall down once again, now the match was all square at 5-5 in frames. A bizarre frame 11 went to the Pickwick with both players angling for a re-rack and an additional referring blunder caused chaos. Once parity was resumed Dray despatched the balls in frame 12, before the nerves started to jangle again. But for fouls by our opponents at vital times in the last two frames, the score could have been very different, but we emerged with a 2-1 sets and 9-6 frames win.

The infamous pole that restricted cueing
The infamous pole that restricted cueing. Probably the MVP in the majority of the Pickwick's home match victories. Such an iconic landmark in the SE London pool scene that the pole has since become embraced as the team's logo.

The Pickwick Public House is now closed, and being converted to flats with a licenced premises situated within.
The Pickwick's home venue is now Blackheath Newbridge Social Club.
